Time to go green in your beauty routine! We swear by these 5 organic beauty products!
These days, we receive conflicting advice about beauty from every angle. It’s hard to believe which brands to trust when they say they are “natural” or “organic”. Recently, I’ve been trying to gradually switch to organic skin care and makeup, but I find my skin isn’t taking the change very well. I will spend too much money on an “organic face wash” with no sulfates, dyes, chemicals, lions, tigers or bears. Each time I find my skin reacts poorly. Either it isn’t potent enough, or it contains an off-ingredient that causes me to break out. My skin is very sensitive, so I have to be very careful about what I put on my face while also not emptying my bank account completely. After much trial and error, and many hours in the Whole Foods skin care aisle, here is what I have found to be the most reliable and affordable natural skin care. Keep in mind, everyone’s skin is different. What works for me personally may not work for everyone.
Shower Gel - Dr. Bronner’s Soap
Dr. Bronner’s gives a deep clean with essential oils only. It has never once irritated my skin, and a little bit goes a very long way. I have found it to be gentle enough to clean my face when I run out of face wash and am in a pinch. I use the peppermint scent for morning to wake me up and the lavendar scent at night to help me fall asleep. I haven’t had to buy a new bottle all year long. If I go camping, I skip out on bringing a whole toilettree bag and just bring a bottle of Dr. B’s, as it can be body soap, face wash, and even shampoo. This can also be used as dish soap or surface cleaner! Don’t ask me how they do it, but it works.
Face Wash - Acure
Once I switched to this facewash, I instantly started receiving compliments on my skin. It manages to keep my skin clear and is easy on the wallet. This cream cleanser gently clears my pores, minimizes breakouts and is kind to my face. Since I have sensitive skin, the kindness really means a lot.
Moisturizer/Sunscreen - Alba Facial Sunscreen
SPF 30 is a must before I go outside, even if the sun isn’t shining. This facial sunscreen is grease free, fragrance free, breakout free, and wallet-cruelty free. I apply before foundation, or even mix it in to create a C.C cream. Works like a charm.
Foundation - Tarte Amazonian Clay
So many people swear by Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation. A little bit goes a long way, and it is light weight for a full coverage foundation. Free of parabens and gluten, this foundation is the only one I’ve actually been happy with. For an extra light coverage during the day time, I mix a little in with my sunscreen.
Foundation - Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lipstick
I’ve always had trouble finding a lipstick that doesn’t dry out my lips or come off in 5 minutes. Burt’s Bees lipstick glides on your lips without any cracking or smudging, and manages to last for a very long time. Studies have shown that Burt’s Bees is one of the most natural, safe chapsticks to use.
